Recall the Shirley Temple type movies of the great depression in the 30's and the patriotic Andrew Sisters pop propoganda of WW2 era -- We hit some kind of dead end in happiness that left us after "Rock around the clock." The decades that followed brought all kinds cynicism and morose self-pity.
