Gentrification, Vienna Style

A notable corner in our neighborhood, circa 1890 and again this afternoon. I only figured out where the archival photo was taken (and mistakenly labeled) because of the unicorn cornice at the extreme left of the picture.

Good question--the caption in the book says "um 1890."

Maybe so, but it could also be that my foto is just a grab-shot, made while both kids were hanging off me....

Oh, I dunno. The old architecture was more interesting, there's street-life in that photo (what's going on with that booth?) and the building across the street from the unicorn looks seriously boring, although there's not enough of it to actually see.
